Gospel-Centered Life: Sanctification
How well do you know the gospel? Do you believe in it? Do you think about it each day and have it continue to work in you? Why or why not?
Whose kingdom are you living for? PC mentioned that if we live for God’s kingdom, then all other kingdoms come under his. So whose kingdom are you living for? If it is not God’s kingdom, what are some practical ways we can help each other put God first?
Make a timeline of your life, you can either write it out or think of it in your mind. Plot out these points: When did you start coming to church? When did you accept the gospel and Jesus into your heart and have your conversion? (if you are still working through this process it is okay). Mark points of major “Christian events” (ie. mission trip, joining praise team, teaching VBS). Now only you can judge yourself. Can you say you are a “better more holier” person now then those various points. Are you on a constant upswing, or are you having a downward trend. Why do you think this is?
Part of sanctification is seeing more of God’s holiness and more of your sin. When we recognize our sin, we should try and break away from those sins and see we need more of God in our hearts. How can we help each other do this?
Gospel-Centered Church: Love
Do you really value your brothers and sisters, the people who have joined you in professing Jesus Christ, in your church and ministry? How have you shown love to them? What are you doing to contribute to your family of believers?
How has a fellow brother or sister shown love to you that made you feel you were a part of this body? Has anyone hurt you and made you feel you were not belonging to this body?
Paul’s focus on loving other Christians may seem inward-looking, but why is this so important for our witness and evangelism? Can you think of an example from your own life?
After going through the importance of the gospel throughout this retreat, does it currently shape your identity, community, and mission? If not, what can we do to fix this?
